Home with House ep21 - Deep Avenue

9:44 PM August 16, 2009
Hey everyone, it's time for another Home with House podcast episode! Episode 21 is an hour long mix of deep and progressive house. It starts off relatively low key and mellow with some moody deep house containing a few hints of progressive house, and it gradually builds in momentum to end with a couple of big progressive tracks.

This mix has an uplifting and ethereal vibe to it. Many of the tracks feature simple yet pleasing piano chords and break downs which generally add to that nice ethereal feel of the mix. Something about haunting piano music, even when used minimally in house music, really appeals to me and I think it fits well with this deep vibe. This episode is called "Deep Avenue".

Deep Avenue tracklisting:

1. Spiritchaser - Coral (Original Mix)
2. Eva Be feat. Pegah Ferydoni - She Walks Alone (Marcus Worgull Remix)
3. Reflekt - Need To Feel Loved (Adam K & Soha Vocal Mix)
4. Bobby Deep - Expressing Emotions (Bobby Deep Progressive House Mix)
5. Spiritchaser ft. Robina - Rain Down (Dub Mix)
6. Orion & Mango & J Shore - Raining in Osaka (Shingo Nakamura Remix)
7. Ross Couch - Lost Without You (Original Mix)
8. Ross Couch - Sounds Like Summer (Album Edit)
9. Schodt - Tokyo Dawn (Dinka Remix)
10. Ross Couch - Bright Lights, Big City (Original Mix)
11. Lucien Foort - Sound Of Love (Seamus Haji Piano Mix - DJ Velvety edit)

hi, bro. i just wanted to tell that u create greate house mixes!
i think that u have a good electronic sound music taste because of tracks choice and i got pleasure of ur rythm and bit feeling... :)
but there is one annoying problem from the technical point of view that spoils enjoing music. it is low bitrate of mp3 files which equals 128kbps. thus sometimes its simply impossible to get true impression from ur work and its rather sad.
to say in short mp3 128kbps bitrate is like listening old tape cassette player made in china.
would u mind to increase the audio quality of ur mixes?..
160kbps is a little bit better but this bitrate usually sounds less loud than its desired and has problems with high frequences.
192kbps is very balanced solution cause it provides very good sound quality (especially for electronic sound music) and simultaniously the filesize is rather suitable for blogs and podcasts.
thank u a lot for ur house music activities!

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

As for the low quality (128 kbps) podcast, this is something I considered a long while ago. In fact, I record all my mixes in WAV format for optimal quality, then convert them to a lower mp3 format for sharing on the web. You'll notice my other non-podcast mixes are offered in 320kbps on this website as it is MUCH better quality. But the file size is much larger. The podcast is something that is typically streamed alot over the web and as such, it needs to be fast. Podcasts are typically 128kbps because of this. I thought about offering both a 128kbps and 320kbps version of the podcast, but then everything to do with podcast tracking (and programs like itunes, etc) would get confused about what version to use and how many episodes there are when there are 2 versions of each episode. So I decided to stick with the 128kbps quality for the podcast to keep things relatively simple.

However, if you would like a higher quality version of a specific one of my mixes, let me know and I'll put a 320kbps version on my site for you to grab.

Ok well, given that most people would seem to prefer higher quality mixes, I will look at increasing the kbps for the podcast starting with the next episode and onwards. Alexspura, since you requested those episodes listed above specifically, I will see about uploading higher quality versions for you sometime this week. I will let you know.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone :).

Ok, well due to the high demand for a higher quality mix format, I've gone through and upgraded every past episode from 128kbps to 192kbps. It took a while but they are all upgraded and live now. But because they total about 25+ hours of music, I don't have the time to go through and listen to each one fully to make sure there were no conversion glitches (which sometimes occur). So if anyone re-listens to past episodes and finds any hiccups or glitches in the mp3 file, let me know and I'll convert it again from the WAV.

Thanks again to everyone for all the feedback. Hopefully this little increase in audio quality will suffice for now (if not, please let me know again). Cheers!
